 FAQs

  • Do you know how much it would cost to hire a designer with more than 30 years experience for your marketing staff? Assume it would be north of $90,000, plus benefits. Would you be able to keep them busy full-time?

Have you ever hired an ad agency? They’re worth every penny if you need PR, sophisticated marketing plans, and savvy media buying. That’s a lot of firepower for what many companies need daily.

You can pause and resume a monthly plan to make sure you’re only paying for design when you have work available. No worries on overpaying. Easy to budget. You’ll never have to estimate a graphic design project again.

A graphic design subscription model is the most affordable way to get creative graphic design regularly.

  • Once you’ve signed up, you can create a queue of projects and they’ll get attacked one by one.

You can keep adding on as you need. With quick turnaround, 2-3 days, depending on the project.

Some projects, like websites, logos, magazines, programs, books, and more can obviously take longer. You would get an estimated delivery date with each.

  • My favorite quote is by designer Paula Scher, “It took me a few seconds to draw it, but it took me 34 years to learn how to draw it in a few seconds.

That’s what experience brings. That, and few, if any, meetings!

Most projects - flyers, brochures, social media graphics, website revisions and the like can be turned around in a day, sometimes two.

Creativity is a function of the library in your head. When you sit down to create it’s a culmination of everything you’ve done and experienced up to that point.” - Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield

  • You will work directly with me, Jim Charlier. I’m a firm of one, as I have been for more than 20 years since waving goodbye to the ad agencies.

    Read more about me here.

I have decades of experience in financial services, retail, health care, auto, industrial, fundraising, education, technology, entertainment, museum, and travel/tourism.

I’ve created logo/identity development, P.O.S. promotion, collateral, print and digital advertising, direct marketing, web design, TV commercials, social media graphics, packaging design, business-to-business advertising, direct marketing, billboard/transit design, exhibit design, merchandising design, publication design and environmental graphics, and exhibit design.

Most copywriting we can work out together. if needed, I will hire out copywriters, illustrators, and photographers.

  • We’ll work together on a design that suits you business. Often, I’ll present a suggested initial layout with alternates for your consideration. Revisions and changes are all included.

Once we’ve worked together and established a visual language and “voice” for your company, turn-around times and approvals zoom by.

There are no refunds on a monthly subscription.

  • If you don’t have enough design work to fill a month – no worries – set your account on pause and resume it again at any time, even months later, to add another project or more.

Billing cycles are monthly. Say you sign up and use the service for 20 days, and then pause. The billing cycle will be paused and you'll have 10 days of service remaining to be resumed at anytime in the future.

  • We’ll be using Trello. There we can share written briefs, Word docs, PDFs, trade images, and even videos. Anything that can be linked works too.

You’ll have a queue of projects listed by priority. I’ll attack each one. Finish it to your satisfaction, then proceed to the next.

You’ll be able to see the status of each project and there will be a history of completed projects for your reference.

Or, we can just use good old fashioned email if that suits your work style better.

  • For printing I will provide a print-ready PDF whether it’s a one-sided flyer or a book.

I can use your printer, or one of mine. If you’re not local to Buffalo, I can have PDFs sent to your local print shop.

Print costs would be an additional cost to the monthly subscription. Printing estimates would always be given in advance.

  • I do not 3D modelling, complex animated GIFs, animations, or create apps.

  • Avoiding the hourly payment model typical of freelancers or design firms, a design subscription covers all revisions without additional charges.

In contrast to a retainer, there's no need to sign a contract with a design subscription. You have the flexibility to pause and resume your account whenever you need, eliminating any wasted time.

By subscribing to a design service, you can accurately anticipate your design expenses and plan your budget accordingly. This proactive approach can prevent unforeseen costs and enhance your ability to manage cash flow efficiently. No more design cost estimating.

With a design subscription, you can streamline administrative tasks like sourcing and overseeing individual projects and designers, saving both time and resources.
